Arbor Day gift supports Taking Root Fund - May 7 2010

In honor of Arbor Day, the Oshkosh Garden Club contributed $1,000 to the Taking Root Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. The Taking Root Fund is a special project fund for community beautification, which includes trees, flower beds and signage.

"The goals of the Taking Root Fund align well with our organizational mission - to serve the community and promote civic beauty," says Lee Ann Lilly of the Oshkosh Garden Club. "Our participation enables the club to take part in a larger, more wide-reaching project of community beautification than we could ever accomplish on our own."

The Oshkosh Garden Club also announced that the profits from its annual Garden Walk fundraiser will be donated to support the Taking Root Fund. The 2010 Garden Walk is scheduled rain or shine for Saturday, July 17 from 10:00 - 4:00. This year's walk will feature six private gardens, raffle prizes and more.
