Education Foundation of Ripon awards scholarships to 17 students - June 12 2013

OSHKOSH, WI -- The Education Foundation of Ripon awarded a total of $13,400 in scholarships to 17 Ripon High School seniors this spring.

"I'm very thankful to the community for supporting education," said Dick Zellmer, chairman of the scholarship committee. "The joy on those kids' faces when they win a scholarship really makes my day."

The following Ripon High School students received scholarships during a ceremony on May 15, 2013. The scholarships are awarded based on outstanding work in the classroom, extra-circular activities and community involvement.

A portion of the Merit Scholarships received support from gifts to the Education Foundation of Ripon in memory of Joan Kemnitz, who passed away in 2011.

The Education Foundation of Ripon aims to provide support for educational programs and projects in the Ripon Area School District and encourage students to further their education beyond high school. It was established in 1997 and has awarded more than $100,000 in college scholarships to 124 Ripon students since 1999. The Education Foundation of Ripon has six charitable funds under management at the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.
