|New Community Foundation to benefit Winneconne area - November 1 2013
OSHKOSH, WI -- A new way to support and improve the community has arrived in the Winneconne area with the creation of the Winneconne Area Community Foundation (WACF).
(WACF) will host an information session and launch party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Fin-n-Feather Banquet Hall in Winneconne. The event is free, and everyone is welcome. Registration is requested online at www.OshkoshAreaCF.org or by calling 920-426-3993.
As a community foundation, WACF serves residents of Winneconne and the surrounding area as a charitable giving partner, with the mission of attracting and distributing funds to nonprofit organizations in efforts that enhance the quality life.
A spirited group of community advocates in support of WACF is ready to share the news and raise money to secure a $25,000 match grant from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.
"It really is exciting to be part of something like this and to give back to our community," said Andy Beiser, president of the WACF Board of Directors. "I'm really looking forward to getting the word out and seeing what we can accomplish to make Winneconne an even better place to live, and visit."
As an affiliate of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, WACF focuses its service on the projects, causes, endeavors and emerging issues in the Winneconne area. It is governed by a 13-member Board of Directors representing communities within the Winneconne Community School District. Donors can create funds under its umbrella that share WACF's mission.
"We want people to know that WACF provides a way to support the community, to give to those charitable organizations or groups that they're passionate about," Beiser said. "If you are really passionate about keeping your money local and supporting local people and charities, the Foundation is here to do just that, and to give you that peace of mind that your dollars are being put to good use."
Diane Abraham, president and CEO of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, said partnering with WACF was a smart decision, allowing WACF administrative cost savings, greater investment growth potential and access to the vast resources, knowledge and expertise of the Foundation's staff.
"This is the beginning of a wonderful partnership that will certainly flourish and benefit this community for the future," Abraham said. "I was really inspired by WACF's tagline, 'Just Imagine.' It makes me smile, and I can just imagine the great work this group will do for the community."
Founded in 1928, the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization created by and for the people of Winnebago County, Waushara County, Green Lake County and Ripon.
