|Community beautification event this Monday - February 16 2010
The public is invited to a community beautification event this Monday, February 22 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Oshkosh Convention Center.
The event will offer more information on the campaign to plant 1,000 trees in Oshkosh this April and May. Representatives from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, City of Oshkosh and Ranger Services will be on hand to discuss fundraising, volunteering and beautification plans.
The idea for a community beautification campaign grew out of the Oshkosh Vision Survey. In 2009, the majority of survey participants indicated that they wanted to see a community with more trees, wider terraces and unified streetscapes. With support from local donors and volunteers, the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation hopes to raise $500,000 for beautification projects like trees, flower beds and signage.
To support community beautification efforts, please attend the event or make a tax-deductible contribution to the Taking Root Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. Thanks to a $150,000 challenge grant from the John E. Kuenzl Foundation, Inc., contributions may be matched, doubling the impact of each donation.
The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization created by and for the people of Winnebago County, Waushara County, Green Lake County and Ripon. Through charitable giving, the Community Foundation strives to make our communities thrive. For more information, please call (920) 426-3993.
