WINNECONNE, Wis. -- One final piece of inflatable equipment was added to the Marble Park swim area this week, bringing the Winneconne Area Community Foundation's (WACF) enhancement project to successful finish.

A new splash pad was added to numerous other inflatable play structures that were installed last year thanks to WACF's fund drive to boost the local attraction. As a result, attendance and revenue from the swim area have tripled since last June.
"Our goal was to bring life back to our beloved Marble Park beach and to provide a place where our local kids, as well as visitors, can have fun," said Emily Dunham, president of WACF's Board of Directors. "I am so grateful to the many people who stepped up right away to help, both individuals and businesses."
The fund drive aimed to raise $10,000 and exceeded that amount by $2,500. Four inflatables were installed last summer. The additional funds raised allowed WACF to purchase another splashmat before officially closing out the project last month.
Marble Park, with its sand-bottom swim area, shade umbrellas and picnic tables, is one of the unique draws to the village. Winneconne, situated along the Wolf River between lakes Butte des Morts and Winneconne, is home to about 2,500 people.
Village Administrator Mitch Foster said the increased attendance played a role in a new partnership with Oshkosh Community YMCA to take over management of the swim area, as well as other recreational programs including swimming lessons, softball and baseball.
"The inflatables at Marble Park add a dimension that is often only available at commercial pools or water parks," said Jeff Schneider, YMCA Senior Vice President. "Not only do they add endless fun, but they also make Marble Park a quality destination for families in Winneconne and the surrounding communities."
The Winneconne Area Community Foundation benefits charitable organizations in the Winneconne Community School District, which includes Larsen, Winchester, Poygan and
Buttes des Morts. An affiliate of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, donors enjoy maximum tax benefits. For more information, please call 920-426-3993 or go to www.WinneconneAreaCF.org.
