|O4E to provide progress report on Oshkosh’s public schools - January 16 2017
OSHKOSH, WI - Oshkosh4Education invites the community to hear about progress being made in Oshkosh Area School District schools on Tuesday.
The public school advocacy and watchdog group will shine the light on how the community's vision is being carried out through OASD's strategic plan and other initiatives during its annual report to the community from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at The Waters, 1393 Washington Ave. The event is free.

O4E Education Commission Chair Beth Wyman says the event will provide a first look at results from year one of the current three-year OASD strategic plan.
"We are very pleased to see that the referendum dollars have made one-on-one technology possible for our middle and high school students," Wyman says. "At the same time, we are aware of areas the district needs to make progress on."
District and public communications remain an issue, but Wyman says the district recently completed a communications survey and is developing a plan to make improvements.
To that end, Oshkosh4Education has served an advocate by sharing information about student success in OASD schools through social media (facebook.com/Oshkosh4Education).
"We invite people to like and follow the O4E Facebook page to see the great things that our students are working on. We think it's so important to make people aware of the good news that's out there," she says.
In addition to its annual report, O4E will announce a new collaborative project to improve OASD school facilities. It's especially exciting, Wyman says, because the initiative will directly address issues brought to light by community focus groups lead by O4E last year.
The O4E Annual Report will be available for review at the event. The document may be viewed after the event at www.Oshkosh4Education.org or requested from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation by calling 920-426-3993.
Oshkosh4Education is a continuation of the 2009 Visioning and Branding, directed by a committee that includes representatives of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, Oshkosh Area School District, Chamber of Commerce, City of Oshkosh, Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Fox Valley Technical College, the Oshkosh Northwestern, Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh and Propel.
It is the largest community engagement project in support of public education undertaken in Oshkosh. Oshkosh4Education is supported by the Oshkosh Community Education Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.
