Grant seekers workshops focus on U.S Venture Basic Needs Giving Partnership funds - January 28 2011

OSHKOSH, WI –– The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation will hold a grant seekers workshop at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the Caestecker Public Library, 518 Hill St., Green Lake.

Another workshop will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, 230 Ohio St., Suite 100, Oshkosh.

The workshops are an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to learn about obtaining grants from the U.S Venture Basic Needs Giving Partnership. The grant application deadline is 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011.

The Partnership offer grants to nonprofits that meet the following general guidelines:

  • Provide programs that address the root cause of poverty.

  • Provide programs that have a track record of meeting community needs.

  • Provide programs that have the potential to address at least one of four key community impact areas, including

  •  Help at-risk children become ready to succeed in school.

     Strengthen families' abilities to meet basic needs and become self sufficient.

     Empower and support residents who have low or fixed incomes and who are affected by aging or dementia.

     Help those who lack insurance or adequate insurance to receive better care and quality of life.
