Tackling Wicked Problems learning series seeks solutions to complex social issues

Our community has complex social problems that persist despite our best attempts to fix them. Problems like poverty, equality, sustainability and health and wellness are called "wicked problems" - they are large, messy, complex and systemic so there are no easy solutions.

The Foundation recognizes that solutions to wicked problems require us to think differently and employ new strategies. Through a partnership with the Basic Needs Giving Partnership and Forward Community Investments, the Foundation created learning opportunities dubbed Tackling Wicked Problems. The three-day experience in 2014 that drew more than 100 community leaders and nonprofits is just the beginning, says Diane Abraham, Foundation president and CEO.

"We're excited to begin this journey together with the many organizations, businesses and agencies that work to improve the quality of life here."
