Basic Needs

In today's troubled economy, support for basic needs is more important than ever. The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation strives to reduce poverty in our community by providing support for programs that address food, clothing, shelter and other resources required to maintain a basic standard of living.

U.S. Oil Open Fund for Basic Needs Grants

In 2008, the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation joined the U.S. Oil Open to help address poverty issues in our community. By providing grant support for basic needs like food, clothing and shelter, the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation hopes to prevent people in episodic crisis from becoming people in chronic need.

Deadline: Monday, March 1, 2010

U.S. Oil Open Fund for Basic Needs grants focus on supporting organizations that demonstrate the potential to expand or deepen their impact, or those that are already acheiving measurable impact. This includes efforts that the involve goal-oriented, flexible partnerships among non-profit, public and private sectors, and initiatives that take a long-term view of what is required for people to move out of poverty.

Impact Areas

  • Ensuring children are healthy, safe and ready to succeed in school
  • Sustaining a higher quality of life for uninsured and underinsured residents by reducing acute and long-term care crises
  • Providing support services for low- or fixed-income individuals affected by aging and dementia, allowing them to age with dignity
