Webster Family Fund Grants to Tennies for Teens Program
Earlier this year, the Webster Family Fund Grant Program, managed by the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, awarded $2,000 to the Tennies for Teens Program. This generous grant supports the mission of providing quality tennis shoes to teenagers in need. By collaborating with area schools and youth programs, Tennies for Teens identifies students who require new footwear and ensures they receive it.
The Tennies for Teens Program operates under the charitable umbrella of Unimaginable Hope, an organization dedicated to spreading kindness and meeting the needs of individuals and communities. Unimaginable Hope was founded in memory of Marge and Steve Minsky, who both tragically passed away on February 2, 2017, just three hours apart. Their love for the outdoors and simple living inspired their family and friends to create this organization to continue their legacy of kindness and generosity.
Unimaginable Hope embraces the values of non-biased charitable giving, ensuring that funds and resources are distributed to those who need them most. The organization focuses on instilling kindness and hope, making a difference in the lives of many through its various programs.
One of the key initiatives of Unimaginable Hope is Tennies for Teens, which aims to provide more than 200 students with new shoes annually. The program was born out of the realization that teenagers are often overlooked in drives for basic necessities, including shoes. With funding from grants, private donations, and fundraising efforts, Tennies for Teens discreetly provides new shoes to students identified as being in need. Whenever possible, students can choose their shoes either online or in a store, ensuring they receive a pair they love. Otherwise, shoes are delivered to them at school or through the recommending contact.
The appreciation expressed by these students is profound, highlighting the importance of this program. Many have never owned a new pair of shoes before, making the gift even more meaningful. The Webster Foundation grant ensures that Tennies for Teens can continue to support more students each year, with the goal of expanding the program further as additional funds become available.
Through the ongoing support of grants, donations, and community involvement, Tennies for Teens and Unimaginable Hope continue to honor the Minsky’s legacy, spreading kindness and making a tangible difference in the lives of teenagers in need.
The Webster Family Fund awarded more than $89,000 in grants this year ranging from $500-$2,500. The 62 benefitting organizations include area schools, churches, daycare centers, service organizations such as the Lions Club and Rotary Club, and several food pantries.
