The Green Lake County/Ripon Community Foundation has been serving the communities of Berlin, Green Lake, Markesan, Princeton, and Ripon since its founding in 2000. The Foundation supports the charitable efforts of local residents, organizations, and businesses, helping them leave a lasting impact on their communities. As of July 1, 2024, the Foundation has awarded 1,927 grants and scholarships for a total of $5,477,685.

One standout project supported by the Green Lake County/Ripon Community Foundation is the Playground Park Revamp in Green Lake, led by Amanda Castleberry and a dedicated group of community members known as “Playground Pals.” Their goal is to create an inclusive playground in Green Lake, a space where children of all abilities can play together.

“The idea for an inclusive playground began with a personal need,” Amanda explains. “As a mother of four, including my daughter Johnnie who has a rare genetic condition, I realized the existing park was inadequate for her needs. Seeing her limited play opportunities drove us to create a space where all children, regardless of ability, can enjoy.”

The Green Lake City Playground Park Revamp Fund has already raised $130,000 toward its goal of $640,000 (as of June 30, 2024), with strong support from both individual donors and local organizations. Their partnership with your Community Foundation has been pivotal.

“The Foundation has been instrumental in helping us manage the financial side of our project,” Amanda shared. “Their credibility and expertise in managing charitable funds, combined with their extensive network, have been invaluable. We feel confident knowing our donors’ contributions are being handled with transparency and care. The Foundation is a trusted partner in helping us bring this dream to life.”

Looking ahead, Playground Pals plan to continue their fundraising efforts, aiming to complete the park by June 2026. The most rewarding part of their fundraising experience thus far has been seeing the community come together and witness the collective effort and enthusiasm of everyone involved. With the Community Foundation’s support, the project not only strives to meet its financial goals but also aims to create a truly inclusive space that reflects the community’s values.
