Don Hale Scholarship Fund
The Don Hale Scholarship Fund was established by the members of the Winneconne Area Foundation on Don’s behalf when Don was awarded the Community Leader award in 2004. He continued to deposit an adequate amount of money to give out yearly scholarships for students going into the education field.
Don had been a teacher and band director at Winneconne School District for 33 years. Prior to retirement, Don taught instrumental music at the middle school for 12 years, taught instrumental music at the high school for 23 years, and coached wrestling for 33 years.
In addition to coaching, Don had also served on the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association board for 24 years including serving as president. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Wrestling George Martin Hall of Fame in 2005 and is currently the President of the Wrestling Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Don continues to pursue his interests of golf, music, and travel. He regularly golfs in the summer and plays the trumpet in several bands. He currently plays in the Tuba Dan and Big Band Reunion at Cranky Pats. Don and his wife love to travel to visit their children and grandchildren.
