The George M. Steele High School Fund is a designated fund with the purpose to support the most needy and worthy students of Oshkosh high schools.
According to the Oshkosh Public Museum, Dr. George M. Steele practiced medicine in Oshkosh in the late 19th century. He was also interested in real estate and built the Frontenac Apartments on High Avenue. He married Mary E. ”Minnie” Wickwire in 1871. Mary died in Oshkosh on November 7, 1921, and George died on July 31, 1931.
